چکیده

i ABSTRACT The conventional wire interconnect may encounter their fundamental material limits in the near future. To surpass this problem, RF/wireless interconnect systems have been proposed. The aims of this project were to design on-chip dipole antennas, to model a T/R switch and to study the UWB system modulation schemes, and then to demonstrate the feasibility of a novel wireless interconnect system. Through the project, Matlab and Microsoft Excel were used to do modeling and data analysis. Sonnet was used to simulate on-chip dipole antenna structures. Simulation results showed that the on-chip antenna designed in this project achieved 15dB higher transmission gain than the convention design with an impedance bandwidth of about 10GHz. Three T/R switch models were developed with sufficient accuracy and a method was found on how to determine the gate width of the MOSFET's used in a T/R switch. Furthermore, BER performance of two UWB modulation schemes were derived and studied in details. Therefore, the novel inter-and intra-chip wireless interconnect system has been successfully demonstrated to be feasible.

A Routing-Aware Simulated Annealing-based Placement Method in Wireless Network on Chips

Wireless network on chip (WiNoC) is one of the promising on-chip interconnection networks for on-chip system architectures. In addition to wired links, these architectures also use wireless links. Using these wireless links makes packets reach destination nodes faster and with less power consumption. These wireless links are provided by wireless interfaces in wireless routers. The WiNoC archite...

Design of a Low-Latency Router Based on Virtual Output Queuing and Bypass Channels for Wireless Network-on-Chip

Wireless network-on-chip (WiNoC) is considered as a novel approach for designing future multi-core systems. In WiNoCs, wireless routers (WRs) utilize high-bandwidth wireless links to reduce the transmission delay between the long distance nodes. When the network traffic loads increase, a large number of packets will be sent into the wired and wireless links and can...
